Day to day work includes cutting, trimming and shaping hair with scissors, clippers and razors, shampooing and conditioning, applying colour, tinting, chemical straightening and permanent waving, and styling through blow-drying, straightening, curling, braids and extensions. Beard and moustache grooming is required at times, along with wig and hairpiece work. Staff also advise clients on hair care and products, manage appointments and payments, sanitise tools and help with stock and promotions. Applicants need at least one year of relevant salon or barber experience plus a Certificate III in Hairdressing, Certificate IV in Hairdressing or Barbering, or equivalent. A rotating roster including weekends and late trading is expected. Pay is 80,000 per year plus 12 percent super, minimum 38 hours per week, with access to quality tools and an established client base.
